Lecturer, Sport (Sport Studies Specialism) – Sheffield Hallam University

Job Description
At the Academy of Sport and Physical Activity, we’re proud to have one of the strongest teaching teams in the country combined with a top rated research and consultancy profile.

Demand for both our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes continues to grow, so now we are looking for enthusiastic, ambitious lecturers across a range of sport disciplines – delivering challenging and engaging learning experiences to our students and integrating theory and research into practice to enhance their employability. We would also welcome applicants who can add to our extensive research and knowledge transfer portfolio.

We are looking for enthusiastic, critical thinkers with the ability to engage with a range of socio-cultural and political perspectives relating to sport, culture and community. You will be able to evidence a critical understanding of sport underpinned by knowledge from social science and the humanities, as well as a track record of developing critical, autonomous and empathetic graduates. You will also be able to evidence engagement with current sport, community sport and social policy agendas, both in the UK and/or abroad.

You will have the ability to engage students in an enterprising and innovative curriculum which will help prepare them for their long-term career progression. As well as the key skills and knowledge in your specialist area, experience of applying these within the industries of sport and physical activity would be an advantage.
