Executive Headteacher – Axe Beacon Federation – Devon

An experienced leader and effective communicator with excellent management and organisational skills is being sought to lead a growing Federation of four primary schools in the picturesque Axe Valley in East Devon.

The Axe Beacon Federation is a mixture of one large seaside town school of 360 pupils with an Outstanding Ofsted rating, a small rural town school of 150 with a good rating and two village primary schools of 65 and 97 pupils, one rated Outstanding and the other currently rated Good, but likely to have undergone a further inspection by the time the new Executive Headteacher is in place. All four schools are geographically very close and since the Axe Beacon Federation was formed in 2012 there has been excellent communication between all schools and sharing of both resources and staff.

Whilst being a very effective federation the Governing Body pride themselves on each school retaining their individuality whilst there being a collective sharing of skills and experiences.

This position has arisen due to the retirement of the current Executive Headteacher who was formerly Headteacher of the largest of the schools in the Federation and took on the role of Executive Headteacher upon federating. This is, therefore, the first Executive Headteacher recruitment of the Axe Beacon Federation.

This position will suit an already experienced Executive Headteacher or existing Headteacher of a reasonably large Primary school who also has working experience of a smaller village school. The governors are looking for an Executive Headteacher with the vision and drive to take the already excellent teaching practices to the next level within the Federation and meet the challenge and change of the education world, as well as challenges due to growing pupil numbers with current and future development within catchment of all four schools.

The successful applicant will benefit from the support of an experienced Business Manager   who is in the process of streamlining administration across the Federation with the creation of an Administration Hub and an effective and hardworking governing body.

Applicants are encouraged to visit each of the schools to appreciate their individuality and arrangements can be made by contacting Adrian Hilliard, Federation Business Manager on 01297 20922 or emailing ahilliard@axebeaconfederation.co.uk who will be pleased to welcome you.
