Purpose of role
 
This role has been created to ensure the delivery of news and current affairs across radio, web and magazines for Premier Christian Communications. This role should as a result enable efficiencies, strong synergies and ultimately contribute to the growth of audience in the respective areas.  This post holder should understand the target audience profiles across all platforms and demonstrate an understanding of the Christian community and world view in relation to topical issues.
 
Key tasks

Produce news copy and audio for use on-air, online and in print where required.
Contribute stories to the daily news meeting and forward planning diary.
Assist in the planning and production of all news/current affairs strands across platforms including packages, special reports and on-air radio programmes where required.
Adhere to all media law and Ofcom guidelines.

Qualifications and experience

At least 1 years’ recent newsroom experience as a journalist in radio, web or print.
Proven good news judgement.
A recognised journalism qualification.
A good broadcast voice.
Good editorial skills in copy and headline writing.
Develop strong contacts for news cuts, extended commentary and analysis.
Demonstrate determination, diplomacy and excellent interpersonal skills.

Abilities & skills

Ability to work independently but also as part of a team.
Be self-motivated and flexible.
Able to work effectively under pressure, react quickly, and meet tight deadlines.
A good level of IT skills including audio, video and copy editing.
Meet the established production standards and contribute to the establishment of future internal guidelines.
A proven interest and understanding of matters of the Christian church and faith.
