British Cycling is the internationally recognised sports governing body for cycling in the UK and our continued growth is built on the successful delivery of results at elite level and a strong focus on developing the grass roots of our sport.

British Cycling has been delivering facility projects since 2004. For 2013-17, our facility funding allocation has increased to give us the highest level of capital funding of any NGB. We now have an exciting opportunity for an appropriately qualified and experienced individual to join us in the above role.

The Role
The Facilities Officer, Technical will support the development and delivery of British Cycling’s Facilities Strategy, working closely and in consultation with the Facility Development Manager, Regional staff, Board members and clubs, providing technical assistance for the development of facilities at all levels.

The post holder will support the development of a network of traffic-free cycle sport facilities, with appropriate ancillary facilities together with the re-development / refurbishment of existing traffic-free cycle sport facilities to improve the quality of the cycle sport experience for all participants.

The role will require the post holder to keep abreast of current and emerging environmental and planning legislation and to provide accurate policy, planning, technical and funding advice to internal and external partners and organisations.

Interested?
The successful candidate must be educated to degree level with a complementary post-graduate professional qualification incorporating engineering, planning, surveying or facility development and hold chartered status with a relevant professional body. It is essential that the postholder is persuasive and authoritative on the areas of expertise, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively to both professional staff and non-technical individuals at all levels.

You will have a successful track record in achieving planning application success and assessing applications within tight timescales and financial constraints. An academic understanding of engineering and planning issues, along with a depth of experience of working in local authority sport and leisure provision or Sports Councils would be beneficial and experience of highway design, including the use of CAD would also be an advantage.
