Senior News / Features Writer- Timetric – London

Senior news and features writer, Timetric

Are you an experienced business-to-business writer ready to take the next step in your career?  Timetric’s recently formed central content team supplies news and features for a range of business-to-business publications, covering the global construction sector; the cranes, lifting and logistics industry; underground engineering and tunnelling; and the world timber market.

This is a job that will help you demonstrate an ability to work across a broad range of sectors.  As well as building your portfolio, it may be a stepping stone to a more senior role as an editor at Timetric.

This job—and the salary offered—would suit someone on their second or third major job in business journalism.  You’ll be expected to pick up and run with features commissioned by our team of magazine editors, delivering clearly focussed articles that include comment from across the industry.

As you’ll be working on titles that have strong reputations in their sector, you’ll often find that interviewees are happy to talk to you.  But you’ll still sometimes need to pick up the phone and convince a new contact to make time for you, or to travel to events and factories around the world, approaching contacts for face-to-face interviews.

As well as these in depth pieces, you’ll also need to be able to quickly turn around news leads, case studies, profiles and technology reviews, largely working from press releases and short interviews.  Working initially with our expert editors, you’ll be expected to learn how to spot what makes a story interesting for our readers on each magazine.

To be considered for interview, you’ll need to demonstrate that you can write compelling features and sector specific news stories, working from both interviews and prepared material such as press releases.  Ideally, you’ll have some demonstrable experience in the construction sector. However, if you can show the ability to rapidly get to grips with a new industry sector, we’d be happy to hear from you.
