The English Department is lively, committed and friendly. All girls take both English and English Literature IGCSE, following the CIE 0500 and 0486 courses respectively. Generally, about a third of the Sixth Form study English at AS and A2 level, and a healthy number go on to read English at university each year, including Oxbridge. Our results in public examinations are excellent: in 2014 93% of students achieved A/A* at IGCSE, and 82% at A-level.

From September 2015, we are excited to be beginning the OCR course in English Literature, and a stand-alone AS in Creative Writing (AQA). It is expected that as Head of English, you will take a lead role in shaping and contributing to the delivery of the Creative Writing course, as well as leading the first teaching of the new A-level in Year 12.
