Deputy Headteacher, Assessment Lead – Piper Hill Specialist Support School – Manchester

As a result of expansion with our Trust we require an experienced senior leader, with aspirations for headship, to fill this post.

Appointed candidates will have proven track record in leading outstanding teaching and learning. Teamwork is a strength of the school, and we require an exceptional  team leader with some experience of performance managing teachers. This is a key role in championing the highest standard of pedagogy within the classroom.  The appointee will be able to lead by example and further inspire colleagues to become exemplary practitioners.

This post will oversee leadership and management of assessment.

This involves oversight of all pupil data; baseline and target setting; the systems for tracking progress and attainment; analysing and reporting of assessment data; and oversight of interventions that lead from this.

Thsi post will have additional areas of responsibility by negotiation and may include some teaching time.

This is a unique opportunity for ambitious individuals to work within a Trust .  Piper Hill meets the needs of up to 140 students with Severe, Complex, Profound/ Multiple Learning Difficulties, Autism and associated Challenging Behaviours. The Trust’s second school, Pioneer House, will be opening in September 2016.  This is an Applied Learning Free School.  We are a happy, lively Trust where staff & pupils enjoy learning and achieving together.

It is essential that you:

have experience of leading teams to improve teaching and learning or assessment and can demonstrate your impact
are innovative in your  approach to curriculum development
have a proven record of designing and implementing action plans for school improvement and can demonstrate your impact
have the ability to think critically, creatively and be decisive
have drive, enthusiasm and sound common sense and are relentlessly positive!

You will be evaluative, reflective and inspirational and have the ability to motivate others to take on new challenges that will enhance the curricular opportunities we offer. The successful candidate should have strong qualifications and proven experience of working in this field. He or she will be a ‘people-person’ with a gift for inspiring, leading, motivating and supporting others.

As part of the selection process there will be a lesson observation, a presentation, and a written exercise.
