The Research Skills / Learning Resources Coordinator – London Academy of Excellence (LAE) – Stratford, Newham, London

Permanent (Term time, plus three weeks)

The London Academy of Excellence (LAE) is seeking an able and ambitious graduate to be the Research Skills and Learning Resources Coordinator. The Coordinator has day-to-day responsibility for ensuring that sixthformers develop research skills, that they are guided as they do so (for example, by undertaking the Extended Project Qualification), and that they have access to the necessary learning resources. The Coordinator will also lead and manage LAE’s Library, with responsibility for leading and managing sixthformers’ and teachers’ successful use of the Library.

LAE is committed to preparing its sixthformers not only to make successful applications to Russell Group universities but also to study and learn successfully in a university environment, and thereafter in professional employment. A key part of this preparation will be ensuring that LAE sixthformers learn how to conduct research, consider critically their findings, and then synthesise the information that they have acquired. Through your work as Research Skills and Learning Resources Coordinator, you will be crucial in the sixthformers’ development of these skills.

Reporting to The Assistant Head (Academic)

Hours Normal working hours for this role are 40 hours a weeks from Monday to Friday, 0900-1800. There is a need to be flexible about hours in order to carry out the duties and responsibilities effectively. Evening and weekend working will sometimes be required; no additional payment is made, or time off in lieu given, in this respect.

If in the course of carrying out the duties of the post the post holder becomes aware of any actual or potential risks to the safety and welfare of our sixthformers, these concerns must be reported immediately in accordance with the policy.
