International Retail Design Manager – The Body Shop – London

Your role:

The Body Shop International have an exciting new opportunity for a retail design manager to join our London Bridge based team. As the retail design manager, you will manage the process of developing and implementing high quality store designs and creating construction documents and guidelines to support retail store concept development and roll-out. As part of the store design team, you are responsible for designing store fixtures, spatial lay-outs and 3-D visualisations of in-store experience that uphold The Body Shop customer experience by meeting cost, schedule, and operational requirements.

You will:

ensure the delivery of store design projects from start to finish, to time and budget
develop sketches to final drawings and prototype phase for all new store and shop-in-shop concepts in line with The Body Shop brand standards, working with agencies as and when needed
develop concept and schematic design intent packages and guidelines for retail stores, starting from sketch ideas, inspiration images and words, showing prototypes as needed
ensure compliance, applicability and cost of concept designs with multiple stakeholders both in-house and external parties such as landlords or regulatory agencies etc. having design criteria to secure permits and approvals
monitor design modifications and changes to concept, production and coordination of design documents by peers and/or other parties to ensure accuracy of details, dimensions and over all look and feel
explain and present concepts to senior stakeholders as requested, showing the story and rationale for the direction taken, with reference to competitors or best in class examples of store design
ensure cost control and commercial awareness at all stages of projects, producing reports as requested

Experience required:

good knowledge of developing retail design concepts, presentations and out of the box design solutions for all varieties of retail spaces
experience managing design projects from concept to implementation
excellent knowledge of current design trends, materials and finishes
excellent design skills for fixture and spatial design development from free hand sketching to using CAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp Pro (and SolidWorks software)
previous experience working within an in-house retail design/brand studio; or as a retail design manager
experience in managing production consultants and building relationships with cross functional teams both in-house and external relationships

Qualifications/ technical requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Architecture/Interior Architecture or equivalent
basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
basic knowledge of SolidWorks software
advanced CAD, Adobe Creative, Sketchup Pro
