Academy Physiotherapist – Park Lane – Reading Football Club Academy

Job Description
The Academy Physiotherapist will liaise with the Head of Academy Physiotherapist (HAP) to deliver a high quality evidence based medical support service to all players in the Academy. The main emphasis of this position will be to provide medical services to players aged U9-U16 in the Full-time and Hybrid programmes at various Reading FC training venues.

Main Duties:
provide physiotherapy services to all players in the full-time programme at the Forest School and the hybrid programme at various Reading FC training sites.
• Liaise effectively with the academy coaching staff on a daily basis in order to keep them informed of player’s availability for academy matches and training.
• Provide a pre-hab programme to U9-U16 squads in alignment with current evidence and departmental principles, in both group and individual settings.
• Support and assist with the Academy Injury Clinic under the guidance of HAP.
• Provide pitch side trauma cover for any games as required.
• When appropriate assist with medical provisions to the U18 squad and beyond as directed by SAP.
• Provide accurate assessment and diagnoses of all academy injuries.
• Provide, log and develop high quality evidence based treatment and rehabilitation of Academy players.
• Provide and maintain up to date records of Screening Protocols as directed by HAP and in conjunction with EPPP requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of injuries and medical interventions on Club PMA.
• Maintain and deliver up to date, comprehensive and accurate age specific (throughout the academy as directed by HAP) injury audits at 6-weekly intervals.
• In liaison with HAP maintain and update qualifications and CPD by both contributing to the clubs medical department in-service programme and attending external course.
• Using effective communication, liaise with all appropriate staff in relation to the above listed responsibilities.

Person Spec:
Essential:
BSc Hons Physiotherapy/ Sports Therapy
(or another relevant discipline)
from a recognised university
HPC registered
CSP registered
Up-to date trauma qualifications
Minimum 2-years experience of working in elite sport
Full Driving Licence
Computer literacy, including
MS office and excel.

Desirable:
A Masters degree in Physiotherapy or related studies.
Completed and passed AREA
Experience of working in football under EPPP audit regulations
Use of PMA
