Partner Relationship Development Officer – Get Berkshire Active

Job Description
Get Berkshire Active (the county Sport and Physical Activity Partnership for Berkshire) are seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the role of Partner Relationship Development Officer. At this stage we are simply seeking EOIs whilst we await final role descriptors from our funder. We expect final role details to be known in April and for the position to be formally advertised then. However we do anticipate that the role will require the following:

The ability to
– Manage relationships / Partnerships with a large number of governing bodies and partners (some of which may be non sporting and hard to reach)
– Work collaboratively with NGBs and other leading providers of sport/physical activity on projects focused on addressing participation, workforce, inactivity and clubs.
– Facilitate NGB engagement by linking them with critical local partners including Leisure Operators, Public Health, Local Authority Sport Development Team, School Sport Partnerships, Further Education & Higher Education Institutions, National Trust, Charities Volunteer Organisations.
– Manage GBA’s relationship with Sport England’s Community Sport Relationship Manager. Alongside attending monthly regional meetings hosted by Sport England and relaying critical information and updates back to the team.
– Ensure NGB engagement is prominent across leading GBA work programmes
– Lead on reporting of progress with NGB’s to Sport England at quarters 2 and 4
– Add value to the delivery of NGBs and other key providers of sport via the dissemination of both national and local level insight, helping to shape and land their participation offers.
– Alongside the CSP team, strategically plan local programmes aligned to National/Regional NGB priorities
– Assist the Project Manager with the planning, implementation and evaluation of the extensive Berkshire School Games

In order for the successful post holder to meet the requirements above we would anticipate that they would require the following knowledge, skills and attributes
• A degree or equivalent qualification in a related field such as Sports Development, Sports/Leisure Management, Sports Science, Coach Education & Physical Education.
• Sound knowledge and understanding of:
 Department for Culture, Media and Sport’s (DCMS) ‘Sporting Future’ Strategy
 Sport England’s ‘Towards an Active Nation 2016-2021’ Strategy
• Knowledge and experience of communicating directly with a range of sporting organisations and physical activity providers, particularly National Governing Bodies, Sports Clubs, Local Authorities, Further Education/Higher Education Institutions & Volunteer Groups.
• Relevant experience/interest in sport e.g. working for a County Sports Partnership, volunteering / playing sport, Local Authority, School Sport Partnership, School or National Governing Body of Sport or other relevant national agencies
• Experience of developing community sport or physical activity programmes/projects in partnership with a range of organisations.
• Sports development knowledge and experience with proven track record of achievement in sports development or a related field
• Knowledge and understanding of the main national and regional sporting structures and sports development programmes
• Knowledge of National Governing Body infrastructures at all levels, particularly regional/local set-ups.
• Knowledge and experience of working with key agencies responsible for delivering community sport. Plus, experience of forming and retaining these types of effective and successful working partnerships locally.
• Understanding / experience of physical activity interventions in relation to recreational and non-traditional sport activity
• Maintain and appropriate accurate data records of all information gathered and examples of good practice across the network.
• Experience of managing budgets, and ensuring the effective utilisation and development of resources in the area of work
• Knowledge of event management, experience of coordinating large scale events, successfully through: planning, delivery and evaluation stages
• Experience of, and an ability to devise and implement, effective monitoring and evaluation systems/procedures

The successful candidate would also be / have
• A good communicator: clear, concise, accurate written and oral communication with particular ability to explain complex processes and procedures; able to write effective, clear and concise reports. Experience and proven ability of delivering presentations. Proven relationship management skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate with key partners
• Self-motivated: meet objectives on own initiative; committed to continuous self-development. Ability to work under pressure and to adopt a flexible approach to working methods
• A Team player: Fully committed to working co-operatively with others in order to meet agreed objectives. Ability to work as part of a team, on own initiative and as Team Leader.
• Organised: Excellent personal organisational and time management skills, an ability to prioritise and meet deadlines. Strategic, critical thinking and decision making skills. Ability to devise and manage appropriate monitoring and evaluation systems for programme information.
• Able to response to change: Contribute positively to the introduction of change. Consistently looking for new and improved ways of working. Flexible attitude to work
• ICT literate, with experience of all major MS Office programmes, e-mail and internet use, data base management
• Project / Programme Management Skills: must be able to demonstrated an ability to design and manage complex programme processes.

• Able to work occasional evenings and weekends as required, and to travel to a variety of external locations
• A Car driver /owner essential
• The post will be subject to normal DBS clearance and is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975,
