World Skate SLS (Street League Skateboarding) World Championship, London 2020
EVENT DIRECTOR
Street League Skateboarding is the pre-eminent competitive street skateboarding league in the world. As the exclusive partner to World Skate, the International Federation, Street League Skateboarding plays a central role in defining the rules, qualification criteria, event format and legacy programming for Olympic skateboarding.
In May 2020, the World Skate SLS World Championship will take place in London and this landmark event is final qualification event for skateboarders ahead of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. The first ever Olympic skateboarders will secure their places at this event, less than 2 months before the sport’s debut on the Olympic programme.
World Skate, Street League Skateboarding, the Mayor’s Office and UK Sport are working together to deliver this historic event in London.
This steering committee is looking to hire a dynamic and experienced Event Director who will build and lead the team responsible for delivering this world class event. Experience of the following is

essential :
• Delivering a successful significant (e.g. World or European) major sporting event
• Strong event and project management including experience of course construction
• Budget management and the relevant reporting requirements associated with a major event or project.
• Risk management including a knowledge of Health and Safety policies for Sporting Events and Child Protection and Safeguarding principles.
• Experience and understanding of high performance sport.
• Working with a range of UK and international contractors.
• Delivering a project or major event with both public and private sector stakeholders.
• Understanding of volunteers within sports events.
• Managing the implementation of commercial and marketing plans within the context of an event or project
• Proven ability to engage with partners and able to work with and manage a variety of people at all levels
• Experience of leading teams consisting of paid employees and volunteers.
The Event Director will be responsible for the operational delivery of the event including the management of contractors and stakeholder relationships. The role involves working closely within the organising framework and will report to the Street League Skateboarding General Manager. The Event Director will create the delivery plan including the project timeline for the organisation of the Championships. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate these personal qualities and key

This is a role which offers an excellent opportunity for a dynamic individual to contribute their experience of event operations, communications, marketing and leadership to a new event which combines sports and culture for a Millennial and Centennial audience. This role will begin as part time and advance into a full time opportunity.
