Job Description
Overview
Sports Coach UK supports partners to recruit, develop and retain to achieve their participation and performance goals. Established for over 30 years, it is a not for profit organisation with charitable status and was formed to promote for the public benefit, the education of sports coaches, community sports leaders and everyone engaged in the teaching and encouragement of sporting skills.

Sports Coach UK is currently funded both by Sport England and UK Sport but generates further revenue through Coachwise Ltd, a wholly owned trading subsidiary.

The Role
Determine and communicate clear strategic and operational goals, provide direction and leadership to the organisation in line with business objectives and to inspire the delivery world class service standards.
 Embracing full responsibility for positioning the organisations at the forefront of driving best practice, heightened engagement and achieving excellence within the provision of coaching at all levels across the UK.
Initiate forward thinking and effective frameworks for continuous improvement within the coaching environment, providing access to contemporary research and global best practice to benefit coaching at all levels.
Lead a team to generate and capture innovative, cutting edge ideas and programmes. Assemble and lead cross-organisational project teams to implement new projects and ensure their future sustainability
Propel the purpose of the organisations through multiple channels, proactively driving media debate and impactful delivery of clear and concise thought leadership across the sporting and wider landscape.
Empower and develop the team to ensure maximum organizational effectiveness, growth and overall positioning of Sports Coach UK/Coachwise Ltd.
Ensure strong governance and management of the financial activities of Sports Coach UK/Coachwise and ensuring that the appropriate controls are in place.

The Person
A robust network and in-depth knowledge of the sporting landscape with a particular focus on coaching, sports development and participation.
Significant Board level or senior management experience within a sport led organisation supported by a high level of credibility within the sector.
A passion for effective “thought leadership” and experience in high level external facing communications to drive the profile of an organisation.
An understanding of the media and an effective and articulate spokesman.
Natural charisma and leadership skills combined with exceptional influencing and negotiation skills with the credibility to nurture strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
An understanding of the governance structures within sporting governing bodies, community sports partnerships and related organisations.
Intellectually strong with high level of strategic acumen and business management skills with the ability to effectively juggle the, operational, leadership and commercial demands of a customer focused organisation.
Robust, driven and resilient and consistently demonstrates a passion for winning.
