Teaching Fellow in Maths (Maternity Cover) – Aston University

We are seeking
to appoint a Teaching Fellow (Maths) to join our team in the Learning Development Centre (LDC) at Aston University. As part of the LDC team you will provide high quality learning and teaching to Aston students from across a range of subjects, predominantly working with students from the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences, and with a growing number of students from College of Business and Social Sciences and the College of Health and Life Sciences.

Teaching includes
providing maths drop-in support, one to one appointments and targeted group teaching. You will need experience of teaching maths online (using virtual classrooms etc.) as well as on campus.
The post holder can expect to work with students at varying levels of study but will largely support foundation year and first year students with transitional maths. You will need to be adaptable and possess excellent communication skills with the ability to explain topics in an approachable way. Creativity is required to try new approaches to teaching material.

Within our
team you will be required to identify and contribute to the creation of learning resources for the LDC, particularly online resources for Aston’s virtual learning environment (BlackBoard) and for the LDC website. You will also collaborate with academic staff across the University to provide appropriate learning support for students within taught programmes, and to contribute to developments related to the support of student attainment, retention and success.
The post is 0.6 FTE on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Redeployees will be given priority consideration for vacancies
