GCSE Tutor – Tutoring Futures Limited – Somerset + Online

Physics Specialist – an understanding of renewable energies an advantage

(English, Maths and Science – subjects can be shared between two specialists…)

We are looking for an organised, experienced and very capable teacher to delivery the GCSE curriculum for a 15- year old boy. Previously enrolled in full time education at a leading independent school but as a result of his success with motorsports, and the significant time he now misses from school, the Client has taken the decision to remove him from mainstream schooling and now wishes to appoint a Full Time Tutor to work with him in the lead up to his GCSE exams next summer. A tutor who has a physics specialism and an ability to work alongside some of the Renewables Energy team will be considered a significant advantage.

This position offers a generous full time salary + benefits package which will be negotiated with individuals based upon relevant experience and qualifications. Further details are available upon request.
The Client’s requirements

The Client is a very successful businessman based in North Somerset, currently investing in a wave energy engineering company. He has 4 children and it is the youngest boy and eldest girl who form the focus of this role.
The children attend a local independent school in Somerset and are thriving academically within this environment. The boy has been heavily involved in motorsports for a number of years but the time has come when the balance has tipped between time at school and time away. For this reason, it is deemed to be appropriate to remove him from school and employ a full time tutor who can oversee his academic studies and ensure that he is fully prepared for his exams next summer.
The eldest daughter spends a great deal of time training and competing in equestrian sports and is beginning to miss significant time at school. When possible, the Client would be keen for her to be supported with her schoolwork too. She is currently 13 years old and as the demands of her studies increase, so will the need for tutoring help.

Essential:

Experience teaching GCSE English, Maths and Science – it may be possible to employ a Science Tutor for Science + Maths and a separate English Tutor for the two English focused GCSEs.
A willingness to be flexible and demonstrate a ‘can-do’ attitude.
Organised, punctual and reliable
An ability to support learning across the curriculum up to GCSE ideally
A non –smoker

Hours + Location

This is a full time position with the focus divided across a range of roles.
The emphasis with this role is on total flexibility; finding someone who will not clock watch or feel aggrieved if one day is slightly longer than planned but will enter into the working relationship with a ‘give and take’ attitude.
Some tutoring will take place online when the male student is away training / competing and at other times tutoring will be face to face in Somerset. A tutor who is based within a reasonable distance of North Somerset would be ideal.

Travel & Holidays

This role is in essence, part time but paid as a full time role to account for the flexibility required by the Tutor.
There will be a holiday entitlement during the term of the contract but all holiday must be taken at times of mutual convenience with the Client.
Duration of holiday entitlement to be discussed at interview.

The Contract will begin on 1st September 2015 for a 12-month period. It is anticipated that the contract may be renewed for the right tutor.
