Our journey began two years ago when Chilton Primary School was approached by the local authority to expand from two to three form entry to satisfy the demand for primary school places in Thanet. It was decided rather than enlarge the existing school beyond its physical capacity, the most economic and effective way to provide these much needed additional school places was to propose a new Free School. We converted to a Multi Academy Trust and the journey is underway. The new Ramsgate Free School is open with two classes in its temporary accommodation on the existing Chilton site with the newly built school planned to open in September 2016. We are now seeking an Executive Headteacher to join us at this pivotal time to pilot us along our unique and challenging journey.
We are looking for an existing Headteacher with substantial experience of leadership gained in either a good or outstanding school. Effective at both managing the organization while managing and developing people, you have experience of growing leaders, distributing responsibility and ensuring accountability. As an outward facing and inspirational leader, you are proactive in forming strategic partnerships and galvanizing staff. The ideal candidate will be able to set direction and stay focused, make decisions and lead by example. You possess the ambition, skills and experience necessary to lead the newly formed Multi Academy Trust at this important stage in its development.

The Chilton Academy Trust is currently comprised of Chilton Primary and Ramsgate Free School. Chilton Primary School is a 4 to 11 Primary School of 422 children rated Good (Ofsted 2013); Ramsgate Free School is a new 4 to 11 primary school, which opened in September 2015.
