Education Manager – Sky Blues in the Community Coventry City FC

Job Description

Role Purpose
The post holder will oversee the creation of an education department for the charity. This will include the design, management, delivery and evaluation of all projects and activities under our education theme on behalf of Sky Blues in the Community.

The Education Manager will actively work with partner organisations (local, regional and national) to explore and identify new opportunities for education projects under the SBitC banner, which use the football club as a means to promote education, attainment and achievement to a range of target audiences.

General Tasks
• Oversee the development and delivery of a range of projects and initiatives under the education theme including:
– NEET (Not in Education, Employment and Training) programmes
– Alternative curriculum mentoring within schools
– Employability
– Primary and secondary schools numeracy, literacy and enterprise programmes
– Sports leadership
– Other education-based projects as identified by the manager or stakeholders
• To oversee the supervision, coordination and delivery the #Ucan sports engagement project
• Actively seek out new opportunities to develop a portfolio of education projects for people of all ages across Coventry and Warwickshire
• To ensure the education department become self-sustaining and self-funding in the medium to long-term
• Oversee the monitoring and evaluation of all education projects, including recording of attendance statistics, case studies, evidence, impact, reports etc.
• Sit on the organisation’s Senior Management team, inputting in to the direction and running of the charity

Strategic responsibilities
• Write, deliver and monitor an annual service plan for education outlining the key objectives, targets and finances for the year – feeding into the organisational business plan and strategy
• To create strategic partnerships with key organisations within Coventry and Warwickshire to assist the development of the education offer
• Coordinate and lead project steering groups for SBitC education initiatives, as per funding/project requirements
• To attend #Ucan project operational group representing SBitC
• Develop and maintain partnerships with key local organisations and individuals to enhance the SBitC education offer, actively seeking new opportunities
• Represent SBitC at local, regional and national strategic groups/meetings relating to education

Funding
• Work with key stakeholders (schools, colleges, education providers) to identify income and funding to deliver education initiatives
• Ensure that all grant-aided projects meet the requirements in terms of achieving objectives and targets, in line with applications and development plans
• Oversee all monitoring and evaluation for #Ucan and education initiatives using Views M and E system
• Support (and lead) on funding applications or commissioned work for new and existing education programmes

Staff Management
• Line management responsibility for any staff working on education initiatives
• Supervision of #Ucan project staff
• Sit on the organisation’s Senior Management Team, which includes responsibility for supporting, guiding and mentoring colleagues

Finance
• Responsibility for overseeing budget monitoring (including income and expenditure) for all education initiatives and funded projects
• Maintaining financial records in line with funder or commissioner requirements
• Quarterly financial reports for the Directors of the charity and Board of Trustees
• Developing annual budgets and forecasts in line with SBitC business planning and strategy requirements

Other
• To represent Coventry City FC and Sky Blues in the Community in a professional manner at all times, to include dress, presentation, hygiene, attitude, conduct and professionalism.

• Ensure that all education activities and projects are delivered to the very highest standard
• To be committed to continuous professional development relevant to the post and personal training needs supporting future career advancement.
• To undertake other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time commensurate with the grade of the post.
