Assistant Headteacher – Student Achievement (Closing the Gap) – Bishop Heber High School – Cheshire West and Chester

Bishop Heber High School (the ‘Heber’) has over 1,200 students, including over 240 in the Sixth Form, and serves three villages and surrounding hamlets in this beautiful area of south-west Cheshire. There are strong community links through the School’s Library, Sports Hall and Fitness Suite. The School enjoys an excellent reputation in the locality and a large number of families opt for Bishop Heber from outside the catchment area. In fact, there are over 450 students on roll who come from other parts of Cheshire, Shropshire and North Wales.

We are a Foundation School and formerly an International Specialist Languages College which underpins an exciting international dimension both in the School and through its curriculum. We have also been awarded the Full International School Award.
We are seeking to appoint from 1st September 2015 an outstanding Leader with experience of whole-school initiatives to join our Senior Leadership Team.

The candidate should ideally:

Be an outstanding teacher with proven leadership skills
Have a clear vision of how to improve standards and raise achievement
Have a proven ability to initiate and implement change as well as evaluate its impact
Be ability to lead, motivate and inspire students and colleagues
Have the potential for Deputy Headship

The successful candidate will work closely with a Deputy Headteacher and join a Senior Leadership Team of six. The new Assistant Headteacher will have a curriculum and pastoral role together with pivotal development and strategic leadership responsibilities which will include:

Student Achievement and Staff Development
School Improvement and Self-Evaluation
Planning strategically for inclusive teaching and learning
