Production Studio Manager – David Gill Gallery – London, United Kingdom

We are looking for a bright, capable, highly organised, and inspiring individual to join our team as production studio manager.

David Gill is a leader in limited edition contemporary design, and the gallery is located in St James’s at 2-4 King Street. The yearly program consists of exhibitions with top designers, architects and artists including Zaha Hadid, Mattia Bonetti, Fredrikson Stallard, Gaetano Pesce, and Barnaby Barford.

You will be involved with the production team in the creation of new work as editions and unique pieces (many of which over the years have become historic and iconic), as well as projects that involve commission works for private residences around the world.

The position is not a designer role, so CAD/RHINO software experience is not required.

The gallery also participates in four to five prestigious art/design fairs a year around the world.

The main list of responsibilities are listed:

Gallery exhibitions and fairs

ensures that gallery priorities are met by the production team while working in a team environment. Lead weekly production/sales meetings. Keeps production list up to date
arranges specifications and contracts for fairs and exhibitions, arrange the specification and build of the booth and the preparation of the gallery, finalise the list of pieces for fairs and exhibitions with directors
contact workshops and artists in regards to the design and production of pieces
oversees approval of invoices to pay
manages an effective and very organised administration for the production department
control costs and quality control
arrange logistics that pertain to the manufacture of pieces and ensures pieces meet collection deadlines. Inform sales when new pieces arrive or when pieces move locations
manage insurance claims when they arise
keeps stock list up to date

Gallery facilities

manage gallery facilities at the St James’s and Vauxhall physical plants. This will include: organising works and maintenance, arranging air conditioning maintenance visits, supervising the cleaner, and arranging relevant restoration to the physical space
arrange, amend, maintain, and establish supplier contracts. This would include taking care of staff mobile phone contracts, communicating and liaising with the gallery IT company, and organising mailing for exhibitions and events
ensures that a clean and highly organised work environment is maintained at all times
order supplies for the office and gallery on a regular basis
ensure that the gallery complies with health and safety and building regulations. For example, this will involve liaising with the building manager, arranging visits to check fire safety and equipment, arranging first aid courses when necessary, and booking regular PAT testing.
