Deputy Online Editor, Planning – The Haymarket Media Group – London

Planning is looking for a deputy online editor to join its award-winning content team.

Working with the senior online editor, your task will be to help ensure that Planning’s website, bulletins and app edition remain dynamic, evolving and meeting the highest standards.

Your role will involve a mix of website and bulletin editing, nurturing Planning’s online user community through social media and other methods, writing news, analysis and occasional longer articles and using analytics to ensure that the title continues to deliver content that its audience wants.

Candidates must have a recognised journalistic qualification or experience. An ability to make complex issues accessible through clearly structured and accurate reporting is essential.

An existing understanding of the sector would be helpful, as would experience of using Content Management Systems, Google Analytics (or similar) and website editing, but is not as important to the role as curiosity and a willingness to become knowledgeable about both planning and web editing.

Planning is the fortnightly title for town planners and professionals concerned with planning and managing the natural and built environment. Our content team covers all the key planning issues, ranging from city centre regeneration to fracking. Our website is visited by more than 50,000 unique users every month, and we have more than 6,500 paying subscribers.

In 2014, the title’s editorial team was highly commended in the business to business category of the Association of Online Publishers’ digital publishing awards.

The title is part of Haymarket Business Media. The role will be based at our newly refurbished office in Twickenham.
