Assistant Academy Strength and Conditioning Coach – Northampton Saints

Job Description
General Objectives
• Work alongside East Midlands based Assistant Academy Strength and Conditioning Coach to help lead and deliver Junior Saints Academy (JSA) Strength and Conditioning support programme
• Oversee and drive Player Development Group (PDG) Athletic Development Programme at U15 and U16 level
• Work as part of a team of Academy coaches and physiotherapists to effectively deliver support with in an outreach schools based regional rugby programme

Specific role Profile
• Deliver a high standard of S&C programming to all JSA players following a Long-Term Athletic Development (LTAD) model representing the Northampton Saints Academy with in the Eastern Counties region
• Provide a high level of coaching in school based outreach S&C sessions to identified England Academy Players (EAP) within the JSA
• Support Academy coaching staff delivering athletic development based warm ups to JSA players at Rugby training sessions and match days
• Provide support to Academy sports medicine staff with injury prevention and rehabilitation and return to training and play strategies
• Provide effective Athletic Development programme for PDG age group players and drive its delivery through volunteer strength and conditioning coaches.
• Assist with in-house CPD development through up skilling at workshops of PDG volunteer strength and conditioning coaches
• Liaise with various directors of sport, Heads of PE and Heads of Sport on the timetabling and delivery of S&C programmes to academy players during and after school hours.
• Have the ability to drive around Eastern Counties to provide support to EAP players in schools

Ideal Candidate
• Will have experience delivering fitness based coaching programmes to a variety of clients. This would ideally include (but essential) young sports athletes and or rugby players
• Have a degree (BSc) in a Sport and Exercise based degree and or a Masters (MSc), along with being certified in a level 3 personal training qualification. Please note that none of these are essential but some level of fitness coaching based qualification is a must
• Working towards or Accredited by the UK Strength and Conditioning Association (UKSCA)
• Have excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
• Good presentation skills, including use of Microsoft systems
• Have access to own transportation. Work based petrol expenses will be covered by club.
• Live in or the ability to move to Suffolk.

Ideally be able to start early October at the latest, but this can be discussed at interview.

This is a part-time role of around 20 hours per week.
