Reporter – mtn-i – London

mtn-i is a London-based specialised provider of news and analysis on the global debt markets. As part of an experienced, close-knit team in our Carnaby Street office, the successful applicant will be a talented journalist who has some experience writing about capital markets and is familiar with how bonds work. They will enjoy breaking news and networking with contacts.

The role involves speaking with market participants to unearth new deals and producing detailed analysis on their investment and structuring rationales, as well as broader market commentary. You will also be involved in the planning, production and delivery of international showcase and awards events.

Duties & Accountabilities:

To report on any of the mtn-i beats as directed by the Managing Editor
To provide email commentary and tables for reports as directed by the Managing Editor
To provide magazine copy as required
To provide cover (within reason) for other members of the editorial/data team where required
To produce copy to the standard as set out by the Managing Editor, style guide and mtn-i handbook
To meet volume targets (daily, weekly) as set out by the Managing Editor
To help ensure mtn-i data is as clean and thorough as possible
To act as a credible ambassador for the mtn-i brand at all times, including phone and face-to-face interviews, meetings, social events and awards ceremonies, etc.
To share ideas for improvement/developments of any mtn-i product in regular meetings (data, editorial, company)
To take ownership of tasks, developments as requested by line manager
To act at all times in an enterprising, forward-thinking manner and to raise any issues of concern with the line manager without delay and in a spirit of openness
To share knowledge, contacts and tips with members of the team
To ensure the contact book is full and up-to-date at all times with all contacts represented

Qualifications:

To qualify for this position you must be a driven and self-motivated financial reporting professional with a track record of daily, weekly and regular feature output. You must be experienced in developing strong relationships within financial institutions.

2+ years reporting experience in financial/capital markets
Passion for financial reporting and a strong understanding of financial markets
Excellent time management skills, with the ability to plan and deliver to deadlines
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Able to work cross-functionally and influence without direct authority
Gifted people person with a talent for building and maintaining relationships
Team player with ability to contribute to a small but close team environment
