Project Co-ordinator – East Manchester- Active Communities Network

Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
This post is responsible for co-ordinating and delivering Active Communities Network’s
East Manchester programme. The central focus of the role includes coordinating a
diverse range of youth projects ensuring young people are engaged in projects that
are developmental, innovative and meaningful. Key responsibilities include
programme development, face to face delivery with young people and quality
assurance. The Project Co-ordinator will also develop and maintain positive
relationships with key local stakeholders, and ensure service delivery for young people
is provided to the highest possible standards.

DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
– Co-ordinate and manage the delivery of youth projects within East
Manchester including planning, delivering, monitoring and evaluating the
programme.
– Work with a variety of target groups including NEET/at Risk of NEET young
people and provide innovative programmes that lead to personal, social and
educational development.
– Participate in high quality session planning to meet the needs and interests of
the young people, and which support the project aims and objectives as set
out by the project funding agreement.
– Assist the Project Manager – Greater Manchester, to develop new projects, to
raise the local profile of the youth programme and to develop existing and
new partnerships.
– Evaluate and monitor young people engaging in the programme and project
achievements in line with the funder’s reporting guidelines and requirements.
– Identify emerging issues faced by young people and communities is East
Manchester and implement innovative sustainable programmes to address
these issues.
– Facilitate the participation of young people in the planning, development,
design and implementation of all projects available to them.
– Take responsibility for ensuring all monitoring information is being collected
and inputted into our central database on a regular basis.
– Ensure compliance with ACN policies in relation to health and safety, equalopportunities, and working with volunteers and young people.
– Provide line management to a team of sessional staff and volunteers.
– Arrange the weekly team rotas and plan the sessional team’s work
programme in line with project delivery requirements.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
– Work flexibly where appropriate on evenings, weekends and during school
holidays to ensure full and supportive delivery of the programme.
– Occasional travel to London.
– Undertake training in order to develop work related skills and knowledge.
– Undertake any other related responsibilities commensurate with the evolving
objectives of the post and the evolution of ACN.
– Work with due regard for ACN core values and objectives.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
– Experience of co-ordinating and delivering varied and diverse sports/youth
work programmes across multiple sites, addressing local issues.
– Sports coaching qualification and/or youth work qualification.
– Experience of working with hard to reach young people and working in
disadvantaged communities.
– Experience of managing sessional staff, coaches or volunteers.
– Comprehensive knowledge of East Manchester in relation to social issues and
challenges faced by young people and communities.
– An understanding of the sport for development and youth work sectors.
– Experience of monitoring and evaluating projects according to funders
requirements.
– Evidence the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
across the sport, youth and community development sector.
