Job Description
ROLE SUMMARY
This role will provide the delivery and development of Performance Lifestyle support to world class programme athletes complimenting the objectives of British Athletics and working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
As a member of the Performance Lifestyle team at the EIS you will contribute to knowledge development, aggregation and sharing across the organisation to support the development of world class Performance Lifestyle support and practice.
All Performance Lifestyle practitioners, as with any other EIS practitioners, are expected to work within the HCSI Professional Code of Practice to ensure the highest standards of practice are met at all times.

PERFORMANCE LIFESTYLE DELIVERY PRINCIPLES
As a Performance Lifestyle Advisor for British Athletics, you will work with the Performance Lifestyle Technical Lead, Senior Performance Lifestyle Advisor for British Athletics and the British Athletics Head of Performance Support to set objectives, aimed at providing and developing the best Performance Lifestyle support possible.
Performance Lifestyle works with a person first approach, to provide an individual service to funded World Class Programme (WCP) athletes that centres upon:
Proactively engaging athletes in future life planning and career development, with the emphasis on early intervention and continued personal and professional development throughout their time on the WCP
Providing support around finding and managing the optimal personal lifestyle balance for multiple demands e.g. from education, employment, family, financial etc. to enhance performance potential and personal well-being
Proactively working to develop athletes’ portfolio of personal, professional and life skills through workshops, opportunities, training and 1to1 coaching
Promoting the importance and impact of athletes creating and developing broader identities and interests beyond their sport enabling effective life balance that supports performance and fosters positive mental health
Supporting athletes from a lifestyle perspective as they transition on to, through and from the World Class Programme (WCP)
Providing proactive exit support for athletes leaving the WCP for a minimum of 6months after funding cessation. Extending exit transition support if required*
Providing a safe, impartial and where appropriate confidential space to support athletes – sign posting and referring onwards as necessary to safeguard the welfare, mental health and well-being of the athlete
Working in partnership with athletes and high-performance stakeholders to champion, develop and support a sustainable culture that delivers performance and responsibly cares for its people

ADDITIONAL PL RESPONSIBILITIES WITHIN BRITISH ATHLETICS
Support and engage with the British Athletics Mental Health Steering Group to support the delivery of the MH Strategy with a focus on education and awareness to athletes and staff on the World Class Programme (WCP)
Work collaboratively with the Head of Event Groups, coaches and other support staff, to ensure that a whole person approach and holistic athlete development is an integral part of performance
Work collaboratively with other services, particularly Psychology, to ensure the needs of the athletes are being fully met and in a way that best works for them
Support the Senior Performance Lifestyle Advisor for British Athletics with the continual development and implementation of a British Athletics PL strategy that supports the personal and professional development needs of all athletes on the WCP
Encourage and facilitate dual career aspirations with effective management of the balance between sporting and non-sporting commitments including effective liaison with universities to get the appropriate level of support for the athlete
Supporting the implementation and awareness of Olympic & Paralympic Games time preparation in collaboration with the British Olympic Association, British Paralympic Association and British Athletics
