Facilities Development Officer – British Cycling – Manchester

Job Description

British Cycling is the internationally recognised sports governing body for cycling in the UK and our continued growth is built on the successful delivery of results at elite level and a strong focus on developing the grass roots of our sport.

British Cycling has been delivering facility projects since 2004. For 2013-17, our facility funding allocation has increased to give us the highest level of capital funding of any NGB. We now have an exciting opportunity for an appropriately qualified and experienced individual to join us in the above role.

The Role
The Facility Development Officer will support the development and delivery of British Cycling’s Facilities Strategy, working closely and in consultation with the Facility Development Manager, Senior Facility Development Officer, Regional staff, Board members and clubs.

The role will involve assisting with the identification and assessment of funding applications for the development of facilities at a local, regional and national level. The role will also be involved with monitoring both facility projects that are under construction and facilities that are currently in operation.

The post holder will be the first point of contact for enquiries and will support applicants for assigned projects to develop funding applications, offering guidance at all stages of the scheme development and co-ordinating the day to day contact.

Interested?
The successful candidate must be educated to degree level, ideally with a Sports Development, Planning or Statistics qualification, or compensating work experience. It is essential that the post holder is persuasive and authoritative on areas of expertise, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively to both professional staff and non-technical individuals at all levels. The successful candidate will have an understanding of sports development and/or facility planning and development with local authorities or NGBs.

An understanding and experience of funding applications and sources of funding for the development of sports facility capital projects would be beneficial and a background of participation in cycle sport together with knowledge of cycling clubs and the British Cycling structure would also be an advantage.
