England Athletics is the National Governing Body for the sport in England. We work in partnership with the wider athletics family, especially our member clubs, UK Athletics, Sport England & Commercial Partners, to grow opportunities for everyone to experience athletics and running, to enable them to reach their full potential. England Athletics also provides national level competition and is responsible for athlete development beneath world class performance level.
England Athletics is a membership organisation with c1,800-member clubs/bodies and c181,000 registered athletes, which exists to provide services and support to its members and to promote and deliver athletics and running activities across all ages, event disciplines, ability levels and aspirations. There are also more than 7m who run each month in England, 3,650 licensed road races and 113,000 active RunTogether participants operating in more than 2,400 registered running groups.
Our vision is that athletics will be the most popular and inclusive sport in England, led by a network of progressive clubs and organisations, and supported by a sustainable, respected and trusted governing body. In achieving this we will expand the capacity of the sport, sustain and increase participation and performance levels as well as influence participation in the wider athletics market.
The Event Group Lead (EGL) – Speed is an exciting and wide-ranging role working across talent, coach and athlete development, competition provision, coach education and resource production. The aim of the role is to support the development of coaches and athletes to improve performance in England, below the World Class Performance level. There is specific responsibility to deliver the talent pathway in partnership with UKA.
The role involves organising and delivering an annual programme of coach and athlete talent weekends, regional coach and athlete days, workshops and conferences. The EGL will manage a number of Regional Coach Leads in ensuring local coach connection is achieved and will act as the point of contact for all matters relating to the event group area. The role is responsible for the commissioning and creation of coaching content for a central online resource platform and providing technical and coaching advice to the coach education teams in England and UKA. All activities are subject to measurement and quality control.
We are looking for an individual with previous experience in these respective areas of work who can influence multiple external stakeholders as well as make a positive change to the event area and contribute to the wider aims, ambitions and culture of England Athletics. The individual must be someone who can collaborate, communicate, be self-driven and at the same time work in a team and promote the right behaviours.
