Background Information
The Active Forests Programme aims to create a sporting habit for life for visitors to the public forest estate in England. The programme provides engaging, inspirational and motivating physical activity opportunities for new and existing forest visitors. The key aspects of the programme are delivered through: 1) partnership and engagement, 2) communication, 3) monitoring and evaluation.
Alice Holt Forest is the 5th most visited free attraction in the South East of England. We receive over 450,000 visitors each year who are attracted by our fantastic range of facilities including play equipment, cycle and walking trails, our brand new cafe, cycle hire, Go-Ape! (high ropes and junior course), self-led education visits, events and much more. We have a team of 13 that delivers adventurous, customer focused activities and services through our business partners, volunteers and stakeholders; and through play, cycling, site entry, facility maintenance and learning. Our team takes pride in finding new and sustainable ways for visitors to enjoy our forest and to further increase our appeal and offering.

Further information
In the South England Forest District, we manage the public forest estate across West Sussex, Surrey, Berkshire, Hampshire, Isle of White, Dorset & South Wiltshire. Much of the land is of high importance for nature conservation, and includes SSSI’s and Special Areas of Conservation. The area receives around 20 million day visits each year and includes Alice Holt Forest and Moors Valley Country Park.

Job description
Purpose of the job
To develop a range of internal and external partnerships to coordinate and deliver a varied physical activity and wellbeing programme at Alice Holt.
As the post involves dealing with contacts across FC England, regular travel with occasional stays away from home is a requirement of this post. It is expected that the post holder may work weekends and evenings.

Key Work Areas
• Taking the lead from the Active Forests (AF) delivery strategy and the site delivery plan, develop & deliver; a range of internal and external partnerships including with health organisations to develop a programme of customer focused physical activity experiences; site marketing & communication activity; site monitoring and evaluation programme.
• Tap into local experience & knowledge base by working with existing site teams.
• Ensure AFC post is fully integrated into the local site team by incorporation into the duty system offering frontline visitor support and reactive response to incidents as required.
• Where appropriate, a small proportion of your time will involve developing and directly delivering sports activities. The majority of the physical activity and wellbeing programme will be delivered through partners.
• In line with national & local guidance develop, introduce and coordinate a team of Active Forests volunteers to support AF delivery.
• Taking the lead from AF programme manager lead production of performance reports.
• Representing site interests participate in AF programme networking opportunities.
• Where specified lead development of specific AF programme activities e.g Data capture techniques, use of social media, development of volunteer package.
