Role: Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Salary: £25,000 – £33,000 (Plus Attractive Benefit Package)

Location: Chelmesford

My client is a successful UK Highways Contractor, and is part of one of the biggest contractors in the world. They are currently looking to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to work on projects in and around Hertfordshire.
The candidate must have some experience in a similar role within the Highways Industry.

Responsibilities:
o Daily monitoring of resources, track sheets and works completed
o Checking time sheets, overtime claims and subcontractor payments
o Valuing labour and material costs of works completed
o Submitting accurate and timely applications for payment
o Tracking applications & payments received to ensure continual cash flow
o Presenting detailed management information on costs, labour, plant and materials
o Assessing, preparing and negotiating quotes, tenders and valuations
o Liaising with site teams, management and client contacts
General:
o Update and maintain a document system for tenders and professional accreditation’s
o Monitor and update procurement database
o Monitor and manage material stock levels
o Update daily tracker and issue staff returns to clients when required
o Monitor and update training qualifications and renewals
o Carry out regular driving licence checks for staff and operatives
o Monitor vehicle timetable, arrange servicing when required
o Monitor plant database, arrange servicing and replacement when required

Qualities and Attributes:
o Degree Qualified
o Suitable experience within the street works industry preferred
o Numerate and accurate with an eye for detail
o Ability to manage own workload without direction
o Articulate, well presented with a personable approach
o Well organised with the ability to work to tight deadlines
o Full, clean drivers licence
