Science Teacher, Specialist Leader – Richard Rose Morton Academy – Cumbria

Do you have the leadership and vision to raise standards in Science across a cluster of schools?

We are searching for an experienced, successful and inspiring Science teacher to take a lead in raising standards of teaching and learning in Science across two Academies, with potential for further career development within the wider United Learning group of schools.

Morton Academy is on a journey of rapid improvement.  Our recent Ofsted report acknowledges our “dynamic leadership” as well as excellent standards of student behaviour.  Our GCSE results in 2015 put us amongst the fastest improving schools in the country.  The Academy is based in Carlisle, and is housed within a new building with state-of-the-art facilities.  We have a strong team ethos with a focus on excellent teaching and learning, and this new position has been created to join our innovative Teaching and Learning team to work on whole school strategies to drive up standards.

As an experienced teacher of Science who is willing to undertake the training and assessment required to become a Specialist Leader in Science, we seek someone who has had considerable positive impact in their current role.  Based at Morton Academy in Carlisle, you will be responsible for raising standards in Science at Morton and Central Academies, as well as in the other Academies in the United Learning group.

You will have the opportunity to take a lead role in whole school coaching and mentoring, developing and sharing best practice. You will provide intervention sessions for groups of targeted students, for example our students of highest ability and those in receipt of Pupil Premium to ensure they make the best possible progress.

This role offers an outstanding career development opportunity for someone who wants to increase their impact and make a real difference to a large number of students across the United Learning group; an opportunity that will provide the right individual with a firm and substantial ‘stepping stone’ into Senior Leadership. To support you in your development we can provide a comprehensive re-location package and a personalised programme of continuing professional development.

If you are passionate about learning, leadership, the success of young people, and are continually seeking to develop your own practice we would be delighted to hear from you.
