News Editor – Faversham House – East Grinstead, West Sussex

Are you an ambitious story-getter with a proven track record of delivering hard hitting exclusives online and in print?

Utility Week is seeking a talented news editor to lead the news team of four from the front, scooping the nationals on the big stories that affect the UK’s energy and water companies. From energy prices and black-outs to water pollution and market opening, we’re looking for a super-bright journalist that is ready to take a step up.

The successful candidate will lead a dynamic team of reporters and will need the maturity, tact and juggling ability necessary to mentor and develop others while managing their own news patch. They will personally cover the politics brief, including energy policy, one of the most high-profile news patches currently on the national agenda, and a key development area for the Utility Week brand over the next year.

The role could suit a deputy news editor or exceptional senior reporter on a B2B weekly looking to take a step up. Equally, we’d like to hear from experienced news editors looking for a role on a leading title. Some management experience would be useful, though training will be provided; some knowledge of utilities or other regulated industries would be useful – though not essential for the right candidate if they’re willing and able to learn quickly.

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join a thriving B2B media brand at a senior level.

The role is based in our friendly office in East Grinstead, Sussex close to the train station with hourly services to East Croydon, Clapham Junction and Victoria.
