Trainee Storage & Backup Consultant – CGI , England

We are looking for a Trainee Storage & Backup Consultant to join us in supporting high profile public and commercial clients, improving systems that make the everyday easier.
This is a very exciting role for someone with an interest in IT to further their career. You will receive full on the job and classroom lead (virtual) training to develop and be able to perform the following tasks and objectives:
Storage Administration
SAN Administration
Backup Administration
Backup Configuration
Data Centre Management
This role is based onsite in Crewe and you will be working shift (detailed below). All applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Security Check (SC) level.

Your future duties and responsibilities:
The role includes storage administration across multiple vendors and therefore provides excellent opportunity to rapidly build experience. Vendors include EMC, IBM, Netapp, Hitachi, HP, and Sun (and more).
Backups are primarily managed using Symantec Net backup and this tool is deployed across the majority of our estate. Backup administration forms a large part of this role and there is a strong skill base within the team to support and mentor.
You will undertake all aspects of support and administration of multiple storages and backup infrastructures, delivering business critical services to a wide range of clients.
You will also cover a number of Data Centre activities including but not limited too;
• Device install/decommission
• Asset Management
• Capacity Planning
• Environmental monitoring, DC Tooling and Auditing, Daily Visual Checks
• Housekeeping activities, procurement, admin
• Access Approval
• Supervision and management of third parties
• Change/Incident management
• Point of contact for P1/P2 Incidents

A proven track record of working in an IT support environment, troubleshooting technical problems and working to Service Level Agreements.

SAN & Backup – Basic working knowledge of major components and concepts.
Competent in use of Microsoft Office Products
IT Hardware background or experience
Experience in call management

4 Days On:
7am – 7pm
7am – 7pm
7pm- 7am
7pm – 7am
Followed by 4 days off.
