Surrey Cricket Foundation Trustee – Surrey County Cricket Club

Job Description
The Surrey Cricket Foundation (SCF) is the charitable body charged with the delivery of recreational cricket in Surrey. It operates alongside Surrey County Cricket Club. The SCF supports communities, schools and clubs by providing funding, knowledge, coaching and competitions in Surrey and South London. Our goal is to get more people playing cricket and in doing so, we aim to bring people together, inspire individuals and improve lives.
We are looking for a skilled professional to join our Board of Trustees. We are specifically looking for someone who has the skills and experience to drive growth in women’s and girls’ cricket.

What are we looking for?
We’re looking for an experienced senior-level professional who has proven success in their own area of work, and who has been involved in some way with women’s and girls’ cricket. This involvement may be as a player, coach or volunteer. We are looking for an individual who believes in cricket as a force for positive social change, and who actively seeks to be a part of that change.

What will you be doing?
The role involves being responsible for providing expertise and guidance to the Board and the Development Team in order to support the ambitions and strategy of the SCF with particular focus on Women’s and Girls’ cricket.
With regard to time commitments, you will normally be required to attend bi-monthly half day Board Meetings (held on a weekday, usually at the Oval). You may also be required to attend some sub-committee meetings and teleconferences between Board meetings. There will be Board papers to be read and actions to work on between meetings.

What’s in it for you?
Being a Trustee is an excellent way to contribute to a cause you care about, to develop your own skills and experience, and to work with people from diverse backgrounds. You will have the opportunity to attend SCF events including our Disability Day and other key Women’s and Girls’ finals days. You will have the opportunity to network across the sports sector – including meeting our ambassadors and key partners. Although Trustee roles are voluntary and therefore unpaid, you will have access to the SCCC Committee Room.

Trustee Role and Responsibility:-
• To provide governance, leadership, independence and objectivity
• To promote and enhance cricket and community development under the remit of SCF
• To be an advocate for the charity
• To make a creative and informed contribution to the SCF strategy
• To help connect the SCF with potentially useful networks
• To follow good governance practice in line with SCF, Sport England and the England Cricket Board’s frameworks
• To accept legal duties and responsibilities as an SCF Trustee

Specific Skills and Experience:-
• A passion for cricket, particularly for growing the women’s and girls’ game
• Experience in recreational women’s and girls’ cricket either through playing, coaching or volunteering.
• An understanding of and commitment to equal opportunity and diversity
• The ability to work as part of a team, to build constructive relationships and understand the power of partnerships.
• The ability to motivate and inspire others
• To be well-connected with the ability to influence others and promote the work of the SCF

How to apply
Application Applications are invited from individuals who are passionate about cricket and making a difference in their community, who have energy and enthusiasm for sport and charity activities in general, and who are able to offer their time and expertise. Please provide a covering letter detailing your motivation for applying for the role and how you feel your skills and experience could be of benefit to the SCF enclosing your CV to hr@surreycricket.com by 6th June 2021. After the application closing date, we will be in touch with shortlisted candidates to make the necessary arrangements for interview in late June.
