Job Description
Imperial Athletes delivers student sport at Imperial College London and is
made up of 5000 students across 55 different sports. Part of that programme is
our performance offer which includes 50 scholarship athletes and 10
performance teams. These high performing students are competing in both the
highest BUCS leagues and on the international stage.
We are looking to support our strength and conditioning provision by adding
two student placement opportunities. These two students will work alongside
our current strength and conditioning coaches in the delivery of our
performance program.

The placements are made up of:
– 10+ hours of term time strength & conditioning shadowing or coaching with
the performance teams and individual scholars (hours can be discussed to fit
with your requirements)
– Involvement with regular athlete testing and data evaluation
– Developing athlete programmes based off regular testing and athlete
feedback
– Opportunities to lead sessions under supervision of one of the full-time
coaches once comfortable with the facility and programme
– In house CPD opportunities to complete such as (not exhaustive list):
o The holistic approach of developing and exceling the dual career athlete
provision

o Testing, monitoring, and data management to inform programming
o Working with injured athletes
o Developing your philosophies and achieving a positive impact on your
athletes in a holistic manner
o Presentation skills and delivery
– Mentoring from lead strength and conditioning coach with weekly meetings
and regular observations/feedback
– Support achieving UKSCA accreditation can be given
– Access to student athletes to complete case study assessment
– Opportunity to observe other parts of the team such as physio, massage and
club development
– Opportunity to attend national competitions to support our performance
athletes as part of an Imperial Athletes team
Our programme is extremely flexible so we may be able to offer exposure to
other opportunities once in place such as equipment management, gym health
and safety and other areas within student sport.
To support you during this placement we offer up to £500 travel
reimbursement per term which can be claimed back through a simple form,
part funding for CPD courses in line with your course, and personal
development as well as branded kit to wear while coaching.
