Community Apprentice – England Boxing Ltd – London

Job Description
England Boxing is seeking to recruit and appoint an England Boxing Community Apprentices (aged between 16-25) who will harness the excitement and interest in the sport generated by the Commonwealth Games by delivering community-based engagement events in partnership with England Boxing affiliated clubs and opening up pathways for sustained participation in the sport.
The purpose of the role is to provide developmental support to England Boxing affiliated clubs and provide transitional opportunities for participants to grow initial interest into regular involvement within the sport.

Key Accountabilities:
• Alongside the Regional Club Support Officer, plan a series of engagement events and club development activities to harness the interest in the sport as a result of the Commonwealth Games.
• To support the recruitment, retention, and development of volunteers in order to effectively develop and deliver boxing within communities.
• To support the provision of high-quality coach development opportunities, with a focus on underrepresented groups including female, ethnically diverse coaches, low socioeconomic and participants with disabilities/long-term health conditions.
• Alongside England Boxing affiliated clubs, turn interest in the sport into regular participation.
• To capture, and record data and insight during all activities to aid learning and help shape future support that England Boxing will provide.
• To comply with England Boxing rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
• To support the delivery and operation of England Boxing events as required.

Person Specification:
Essential
• Knowledge and understanding of amateur boxing.
• Passionate about community development and participation.
• Respects and relates well to people of diverse backgrounds.
• Strong communication skills.
• Hard working and flexible in approaching and dealing with challenges that arise.
• Willing to travel and work flexibly including some evenings & weekends – specifically those where EB Championships & Events are due to take place
• Strong IT skills in the use of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook and Teams

Desirable
• Educated to a level 2 standard in Maths & English.
• Experience of supporting grass roots sport/clubs.
• Experience of partnership working and building relationships with individuals and organisations.
• Ability to work independently using initiative whilst also contributing to the national team.
• Experience in sports coaching or relevant qualification.
