Senior PR Executive – designjunction – London

designjunction is currently looking for a Senior PR executive to join our team in London.

designjunction has cemented its reputation for presenting cutting-edge contemporary design against the backdrop of challenging industrial spaces, breaking the mould of the traditional trade show. designjunction is a carefully curated show, presenting the best in lighting, furniture and accessories from some of the world’s leading design brands.

Now in its fifth year, designjunction has a global presence in three major design cities including London, Milan and New York.

The role

Your principal role is to manage and support all the day to day PR activities for designjunction working across London, Milan and New York plus other satellite events throughout the year. You are required to deliver a proactive PR and communications strategy to support these events, plus additional marketing aspects as specified.

Senior PR executive – reporting directly to managing director

Key responsibilities

Duties include (but are not limited to):

manage PR activity across all the shows and be designjunction’s main point of contact with trade media
work closely with managing director to ensure a high level of press coverage is achieved for the show and for exhibitors
help evolve the companies brand position, supporting the execution of an annual PR strategy, determining the best avenues for building the brand across all media platforms
work on a variety of special projects (estimated 20% of workload), for example setting up design districts; managing installations and features at the show
negotiate and manage media partnership agreements across all shows
pitch stories to the media to secure feature placements
be responsible for all press and image requests, as well as logging all media coverage on a weekly basis. Collate and scan all media coverage for the show
manage press office onsite at the show, oversee press briefings and tours. This will include the logistics for the press breakfast and other ad-hoc press focused events onsite
manage systems for collecting press information from exhibitors
write, format and issue all press releases for the show – general releases, brand focused releases, shop releases etc
ensure the press section of the website is kept up to date with the support of a PR/marketing assistant
issue weekly internal press reports, and produce annual PR report
maintenance of global media database – keep up to date with new media contacts and manage existing list
manage PR intern on daily activities closer to the show
work closely with the marketing manager and support on social media activity

The individual should have the following characteristics:

enthusiastic, efficient and able to think creatively and work within cost effective budgets
have a good knowledge and interest in contemporary design
have good media contacts in the design industry
be a credible ambassador, able to represent the designjunction brand independently and deal with high profile media contacts
be a good writer, with an adaptable, clear tone of voice
be organised and efficient
be excited by varied challenges, have a positive outlook at all times, have the ability to juggle a series of different projects, working across different design disciplines, project managing multiple activities
have the ability to work in a very fast-paced environment

The individual should have the following experience:

minimum three years in a PR role
preferably experience in events/exhibitions PR
experience in the design sector
project management experience
experience negotiating and managing contracts
experience working with/ managing a PR agency

Salary is negotiable depending upon experience
