International Development Manager – Active Communities Network Ltd – London

Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

To be the operational and external representative for all of Active Communities Network’s (ACN) International programmes. This role is a Senior Management position within ACN with expectations to develop new business, manage existing international development contracts, and contribute to ACNs Senior Management team focusing on strategic and operational work. The role will have a large emphasis on representing the organisation to external partners including Governments, corporate partners, NGOs and other influencers within the sport for development sector.

DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Project manage a portfolio of sport for development programmes and contracts delivered by ACN and its network partners.
• Provide quality assurance of project delivery and provide strategic and operational advice to a range of NGOs working with ACN in regards to contracted services where appropriate.
• Undertake project evaluations and impact assessments as per client requirements.
• Develop and implement a business development and fundraising plan for International delivery programmes, tenders and contracts.
• Work with the Senior Management Team to manage the organisation effectively and implement ACNs business plan.

• Deliver training and workshops to an international audience, and coordinate additional trainers and ACN staff to deliver where required.
• Represent ACN on the international sport for development stage through attending and networking at international conferences and events, delivering keynote addresses, and facilitation.
• Oversee and manage internal and external study visits, training and learning experiences for colleagues and partners visiting the UK.
• Manage relationships with funders and influencers in the sport for development sector on an international platform.
• Work with the Communications department to promote the work of ACN on an international platform.
• Develop new partnerships and seek new opportunities for ACN in line with ACNs business plan.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

• A minimum of 3 years’ experience of managing and delivering sport for development programmes on a UK and/or International level.
• Knowledge of the international sport for development sector, including (but not exclusive to) Asia and sub Saharan Africa.
• Experience managing and delivering training and workforce development programmes.
• Experience in managing high level and delivery level partnerships ranging from Government departments to small NGOs.
• Proven track record of successful fundraising, business planning and budget management.
• Strong project management skills with ability to work to challenging deadlines for multiple partners and funders who have varying requirements.
• Experienced presenter and effective communicator.
• Willingness to travel to represent ACN within the UK and overseas.
• Evidence of influencing and negotiating skills.

OTHER INFORMATION

The post-holder will be required to work with regular travel as a part of the post with short and week-long stays both in the UK and overseas. The post-holder will be expected to work occasional evening and weekends as the nature of Active Communities Network business requires flexible working hours.

GENERAL

In carrying out the above the post holder will:

• Adhere to Active Communities Network policies and procedures

• Keep abreast of developments in services and legislation for young people and in the sports development and community development arenas as relevant to the tasks and responsibilities

• Seek to improve his/her own performance, contribution, knowledge, and skills and participate in training and developmental activities as required

• Ensure the implementation of Active Communities Network Diversity and Equality policy statement

• Comply with Health and Safety policies and procedures
