Based in Angel Islington, IMS is a small but vibrant and dynamic media company that engages with its audience through print magazine publishing, digital platforms, events and contract publishing projects. The Role

You’ll be working closely with the managing editor to plan and write editorial content across a portfolio of publications and digital platforms. With strong titles in the health and education sectors, this role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a talented, creative and multi-skilled team. Our editorial ethos is to ensure we engage with our audiences in an interesting and accessible way and across a variety of mediums, so a dynamic and creative approach is required.

The role will involve writing and editing a wide range of articles from news analysis to features and interviews as well as research pieces. You will work to maintain and strengthen our brands’ position as the leading, agenda-setting titles in their sector.

Delivering focused, original and cutting-edge content has been the cornerstone of our success, so the ability to grow and develop the editorial across of the portfolio is a must.  We launched an enhanced digital presence in 2015, so confidence in writing across both print and digital platforms is also essential.

You will also be expected to attend meetings, interviews, conferences and events, develop key industry and sector contacts, plan and research articles, and write to deadline.

Finally, reader events are proving to be a popular extension to our print and online content, so the successful candidate will be involved in steering the content and ideas for sector specific seminars and associated speakers.

About You

You will have:

Minimum two years’ experience in journalism, ideally in a B2B environment.
Excellent subediting and proofing skills.
Proven experience in interviewing experts – in person or over the phone.
Experience of working on a range of platforms including print and online.
Ability to manage multiple short and long-term deadlines and projects.
Ability to write in-depth articles on a range of sometimes technical and complex subjects.
Excellent communication skills.
Experience or detailed understanding of the health or education sector would be an advantage.

This role is fast-moving and varied, so you’ll need to be excellent at working under pressure and to tight deadlines. You should also be a fast learner, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for doing things well.

Personality-wise, we’re looking for a positive, outgoing person with a can-do attitude who can develop and maintain good relationships with sector contacts. It’s also important that you have a strategic mind and are passionate about working in B2B publishing.

About the Package

In return we offer £19,000-£25,000 dependent on skills and experience, plus year end bonus linked to overall company profit.
