Assistant Board Secretary – Sport England

Job Description
Sport England is a public body and invests more than £300 million of National Lottery and government money each year in projects and programmes that help people get active and play sport. Our vision is that everyone in England, regardless of age, background or level of ability, feels able to engage in sport and physical activity. Some will be young, fit and talented, but most will not. That’s why a lot of our work is specifically focused on helping people who do no, or very little, physical activity and groups who are typically less active – like women, disabled people and people on lower incomes. You can help us do that.

Sport England is looking for an Assistant Board Secretary to support the business at a time of corporate change. This is a newly created post where you will support the Board Secretary to ensure that the organisation has excellent governance controls in place which are part of working practices, and that Board and Committee time is used effectively in decision making.

Your role will include preparing minutes, agendas and follow up on actions; assisting with Board related projects including producing data for internal and external reporting; and you will also provide ad hoc support to the Governance team to assist with the monitoring and reporting on compliance with the Code for Sport Governance.

Ideally you will have experience of Board and/or Committee secretariat duties and good knowledge of corporate governance best practice.

Sport England actively promotes diversity in employment and sport and welcomes applications from all parts of the community.
