Academy Physiotherapist – West Ham United FC

Job Description
An opportunity has become available for an enthusiastic, diligent physiotherapist to become an important member of West Ham United Academy’s Elite Performance & Sports Medicine team, at an exciting and historical time for the Football Club.

Main Responsibilities:
• Treatment & Rehabilitation of injured players between U9-U16
• Matchday cover for U15s & U16s, and other age groups when necessary
• Supervisory role on younger Academy Matchdays (rota)
• Management of part-time Therapists
• Organisation of Youth Development Phase & Foundation Phase screening at part of the process to aid the reduction of injury risks
• Organise and participate a CPD programme for Academy Therapists
• Ensure that all departments are provided within an anti-discriminatory framework and take account of such issues as race, gender, sexuality, disability, religion and age
• Carry out work in a manner which promotes equality of opportunity for both staff and clients

Mandatory:
• BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy
• HCPC Registration
• Previous experience of working with elite young athletes
• Good understanding of growth & maturation and its implications on the development of athletes
• Experience of planning and delivering treatment & rehabilitation of sports injuries
• Effective and appropriate communication skills

Desirable:
• FA AREA qualification
• Post graduate qualification in a relevant field
• Experience working within a Football Academy
• Experience of managing staff
• Experience using PMA
• Good understanding of the expectations of a Category 1 Academy according to the EPPP
